Emily Kardously (she/her) is a readmitted second-year student in UC Berkeley’s Social Welfare Master’s Program. As a person in recovery, Emily is appreciative of the opportunities to meet students where they are and offer support in their recovery and/or harm reduction journey. Emily’s experience in mental and behavioral health and policy and advocacy informs the lens she carries in her current and future social work practice. Emily’s lived experience as a multicultural Syrian queer individual motivates her to foster spaces where everyone feels a genuine sense of belonging, connectedness, community, and appreciation for all the aspects and identities held that make us who we are.
