About HPC
The Hazing Prevention Collaborative is a multidisciplinary group of students and staff who have come together to reduce and prevent hazing in the UC Berkeley community. We seek to shift the campus culture of organizational initiation to one of belonging, community responsibility, and transparency. Our objectives will be met through alignment with the evidence-based Hazing Prevention Framework, and the action of three working groups:
- Website and Resource Materials Development
- Training and Education
- Policy and Procedures
Through this collaborative we plan to provide ethical alternatives to hazing behaviors, allowing student organizations, teams, and groups to contribute to a culture of care and wellness
The HPC evolved from the Violence Prevention Collaborative, beginning in 2019. Since its inception in 2014, VPC has collaboratively produced multiple violence and harm prevention initiatives and will continue to work on shifting campus culture, providing education and learning opportunities, and empowering active bystanders within the Cal community.
