Ronnie (she/her) Wang is a senior studying social welfare at UC Berkeley. Her main areas of interest are currently focused on youth participatory action research (with Dr. Emily Ozer’s research lab), community-centered strategies for social justice, and the development of criminal law. From a young age, she knew she wanted to spend the rest of her life helping those in crisis, so they could experience a better life, free from violence, poverty, and other stressful situations. Her goal is to eventually practice law to assist vulnerable and minority populations. Prior to starting her role with the Harm Reduction Expansion Project, she was herself involved as a Recovery Scholar with the The Collegiate Recovery Program (CRP), which she found to be deeply meaningful and transformative for her own healing journey. Her favorite part about the Cal recovery community is how inspiring her fellow peers are, and how encouraging a safe, communal environment can be in supporting wellbeing and mental health. Ronnie’s experience with social work has led her to engagement with healthcare, youth education, behavioral intervention, social justice research, neurodivergency/disability counseling, immigration (asylum) law, and this year (2026-2027) she will be serving litigants with JusticeCorps. To decompress and enjoy her free time, her favorite things to do are to tend to her garden, cook a fresh meal, explore national parks, go on walks with her dog Rex, listen to rock music, and spend time with her two cats.
